Online security is one of the most popular phrases on the internet so it's obvious why all the companies are trying to create powerful solutions that can protect both users and computers. For your system, you can use an antivirus solution. For the security of the computer on the internet, you should use a firewall. But what can you use against infected websites that can harm your computer? The answer is: Google! As you probably know, Google is the most popular search engine on the internet with the largest database that contains millions of website links. Because they are offering so much information, Google's employees are continuously trying to provide only secure and clean information to avoid the risk of any type of infection.

Some time ago, Google presented StopBadware, an organization that fights against websites that are infected with all kinds of malicious files. This way, the search giant can filter its content and offer only secure websites.

Recently, the company was criticized because the search engine banned a lot of websites for containing malware, another type on infection, while their webmasters were sustaining that the webpages are clean. Google's employees posted several replies for the complaints, trying to make webmasters understand that their websites currently contain malicious files that can harm visitors' computer.

"I've checked out a quite a few "we don't have any malware" reports at this point, and I've yet to see a false positive - the sites in question have each had some malware on them. But this change is also relatively new, and we'll keep working on ways to help site owners diagnose if their site has been hacked and is distributing malware. Maybe we can show some of the urls that appear to have malware in our webmaster console, for example. In general, I'd check file-modification times for the pages on your site to see if someone has changed your pages recently," Matt Cutts said.

The Google employee also mentioned the more simple way to appeal the ban: you should visit the official StopBadware website and click on the "If you are the administrator of the website that was reported to us and would like to speak with us, please see our contact page" link. On the resulting page, you should find useful information that can repeal you ban. If you want more information about this topic, you should read the entire Google Group discussion where the company's employees presented useful details.
