Google is finally making the big step and graduating App Engine, its cloud platform, from testing or experimental technology to enterprise-grade product. It took several years, but Google has gotten here.
It
made the announcement about a month ago and sorted out some of the details, but the changes only go into effect starting today.
"When we announced our plans to leave Preview earlier this year, we made a commitment to improving the service by adding support for Python 2.7, Premier Accounts, and Backends as well as several changes launching today," Google
announced.
For one, there is new, lower pricing for usage, which should lower the bill across the board. But Google is also making a bigger commitment, in the new Terms of Service it stipulates that big features can't be removed without a three year deprecation period.
There is also a Service Level Agreement for enterprises which want guaranteed reliability.
