Mobile phone users who need a solution to organize relevant and useful information about places on Google Maps can benefit from the features of Place Pages, which now sports a new range of capabilities. A new version of Place Pages has been released from Google, offering access to information optimized for handsets.

To better exemplify the manner in which users can take advantage of Place Pages on their mobile phones, Google delivered a video demonstration. “For example, in the video below, the Place Page for Mama's restaurant in San Francisco shows location information, customer ratings, opening hours and what people are saying about the restaurant in summary format,” a recent post on the Google Mobile Blog reads.

Those interested in learning additional details on a place, such as opening hours or customer specific comments related to food, service or ambiance, will be able to do so by clicking on the specific sections so as to receive the necessary information right away. Not to mention that the Place Page will offer various links to useful websites, in the event that one would like to read full reviews of that place.

“Lastly, if address and cross street information is not enough, click on the map button and you will be taken to a full screen dynamic map which is pannable and zoomable. In this way you can quickly see the restaurant's location in the context of the entire neighborhood,” the aforementioned blog post continues.

Those willing to give Place Pages a try should simply head to google.com on their phone's browser, where they will have to search for “mama's sf.” On the results page, they will need to hit the listing for Mama's restaurant so as to go to the Place Page. According to the development team, the mobile optimized Place Page can be enjoyed on Android-based handsets and on the iPhone / iPod touch handsets in the US.
