Google has made a habit of giving products away, mostly to make up its loses from advertising though not always so. Google Analytics for example is used by countless websites, big and small, yet it's been free for all and there are no ads. Until now, Google is debuting Google Analytics Premium, a paid version, for large websites.

Google Analytics Premium doesn't really offer a lot of new features or functionality that would warrant the bump from the free tier, rather it guarantees that Google sets aside more resources for the paying customers who also get 24-hour support and service level agreements.

Put simply, it's a service which enterprises are going to find more appealing and more trustworthy.

"Many websites use Google Analytics, ranging from personal blogs to large enterprises whose products and services we use daily," Enrique Munoz Torres, product manager, Google Analytics team, wrote.

"We learned from some of our largest customers that they have some specific needs that the current version of Google Analytics can't meet in their entirety," he said.

"Today we're addressing these needs by announcing a new option built for our largest customers: Google Analytics Premium," he announced.

One thing that Google Analytics Premier users get is access to more data. There's increased data collection, which give users the possibility of tracking data, and more visitors, than ever.

The data that comes in is also fresher, though there's no word on whether real-time data, which has just been announced, will be available to these users as well.

But there are also more advanced tools, like attribution modeling, as well as the possibility of creating 50 custom variables to track anything you can think of.

Apart from a better product, enterprise users also get enterprise-level support. There's someone to call at any time of the day and night, if there are problems.

Finally, Google Analytics Premium comes with a service level agreement that guarantees 99.9 percent availability for data collection and 99 percent for reporting.

As for the price, as the old adage goes, "if you need to ask ..." Google Analytics Premium will be US$150,000 USD , CAN$150,000, or GBP 90,000.
