Google+ has gotten a bigger response than even Google anticipated, which has spurred the various teams involved with the product to work faster to fix the things that don't work and add the ones that are missing.

Business pages, for brands, artists, organizations and so on, don't exist right now, but the big interest in the social network and the rising number of users have made quite a lot of companies want to get in Google+.

Google has been strictly forbidding non-human users from setting up shop in Google+ and has been taking down profiles for brands, websites and so on. But the big interest has also made it move up plans for official pages.

In fact, if things go according to the latest plan, brand pages should be live in two weeks at most, perhaps as soon as next week.

"To the thousands upon thousands of businesses that applied to be a part: THANK YOU! We won't be able to accommodate everyone, but your interest has got us very focused on accelerating our development plans," Google's Christian Oestlien wrote.

Google has been asking interested parties to apply for a closed, beta period of the brand pages. So far, thousands of companies have applied, registrations are open until Friday, but not all of them will be allowed in.

"Dennis Troper (product manager for business profiles), myself and the rest our team will focus next week on selecting a diverse set of business partners for the test period. We will be communicating with these partners next week, and will let the world know who they are soon thereafter," Oestlien explained.

Initially, Google wasn't planning on launching brand pages until later in the year, several months from now. Seeing the interest, it is now working to launch the feature faster. However, the full-blown brand pages available to everyone will not be available for at least several more weeks, probably more.
