Google's orkut has recently received a new upgrade, which comes in the form of a larger storage space for the users' photos. This new upgrade is released eight months after October's latest increase of photo storage space. Back then, Google orkut proudly announced its users that they could upload up to 100 Photos in their orkut photo album.

Many of the orkut users thought the new upgrade was not that much of a deal, as other social networking sites provided the users with unlimited photo storage. Still, the new addition was welcomed in the community. Now, the 2008 upgrade allows users to upload as much as 10,000 photos per orkut album. According to orkut's blog, the maximum storage capacity has been increased since April 2008.

Along with the major storage upgrade, users will now benefit from a new orkut functionality. In the past, if you needed to change the order of your photos you had to delete them first. After that, you had to upload the photos in the desired order. With the new "Reorder photos" function, users can easily reorganize their photo album with a simple drag and drop operation. This way, they will have their photos in the desired order easier and faster than before.

One thing that seems to be missing from the new upgrade is a way to export photos directly from Google's Picasa. On Picasa you will need to pay a total of $250 per year, in order to get pretty much the same storage space as now available on orkut. With the new upgrade, the fellows at orkut have added a bulk uploader for IE and Firefox which, for the moment, doesn't seem to be working. It's nice to see Google's orkut permanently improving the quality of their services, but it would be nicer if the new upgrades were more useful.
