Postini, one of the latest Google acquisitions and the search giant's subdivision, which is supposed to make the company's products more secure, will represent the latest addition to PlusNet's services, Web User News reported today. PlusNet is a UK Internet Service Provider which became famous for its email security problems so Postini would be a great technology to improve this aspect of the company. PlusNet's email trouble started on July 9, 2006 when an engineer working on an upgrade accidentally removed around 700GB of email messages stored in users' accounts. The ISP managed to recover only a few emails as the others were reported to be compromised during the recovery process.

The problems didn't stop here. In 2007, PlusNet suffered an avalanche of attacks which brought Trojan horses or some sort of infection on users' page while the members' contact lists were stolen for spam. That's why Postini is so important for the evolution of the PlusNet email service as the UK ISP struggles to improve this side of the company and become a top player on the market.

"Our decision to team up with Postini is driven by our commitment to offer our customers the best possible broadband service. Postini's record with email security speaks for itself and we are proud to be associated with them," PlusNet chief executive Neil Laycock said according to Web User News.

"PlusNet is one of the most progressive and highly respected internet providers around. With our shared approach of putting the customers first, PlusNet subscribers benefit from having the highest levels of security and protection available," added Peter Lorant of Postini for the same source mentioned above.

Postini was acquired by the Mountain View search giant Google on July 9, 2007 for about $625 million. Since then, Google has been working on it and recently announced the integration of Postini's technologies inside Google Apps.
