Special doodle published on Google Turkey

Some time ago, numerous Turkish Internet users signed a petition to require the search giant Google to place doodles on their regional version of the search giant. The Turkish Googlers considered the Mountain View based firm is avoiding to publish new logos on their page and designed their own Google doodles to celebrate certain events from the country. The company refused to comment the petition but it seems like it was really successful because Google placed the first doodle on the Turkish page, celebrating an international children festival scheduled for April 23rd.

"Google.com.tr, the Turkish version of Google, now received its own special Google logo. Previously there was a campaign to convince Google that Turkish users deserved a special Google logo too, and according to Ozgur Alaz (who's citing this Turkish press release), Google reacted by giving them a "present." The Google search appearing when you click on the logo is "23 Nisan Ulusal Egemenlik ve ?ocuk Bayram?", and Ozgur explains that April 23rd is international children's festival," Google Blogoscoped offered more details about the events.

On Sunday, the company revealed one new special doodle, Google deciding to celebrate the Earth's Day with an impressive logo. If you didn't know, the Earth's Day was also honored by Yahoo, the giant portal also modifying its official logo to an animated picture. Although the two doodles are quite nice, I think Yahoo's is better because it sends a different message to the world while Google tries to avoid heating the world.

However, the Google doodles represent a nice method to celebrate certain events or personalities by modifying the famous logo. In the past, Google attracted media's attention after the company created a special image on Valentine's Day, the picture showing the firm's name as Googe instead of Google.
