The old one, that is

Google officially announced that the old version of Blogger - the largest blog community on the Internet - was abandoned, the company aiming to improve only the newer edition. Although the latest release of Blogger was first introduced on August, 14, 2006 as a beta an on December 19, 2006 as a final product, many users were still using the old version because it provided more features and improved functionality than the new service. However, Google took an important decision today and officially closed the older version to make the users migrate to the latest product.

"Today at Blogger HQ we accomplished one of our most significant milestones ever: we changed old Blogger's monitoring from "page us when it goes down" to "page us if it comes back to life in a horrifying, zombie state." Most of you probably haven't noticed, since you've been happily (we hope) using new Blogger for several weeks or months now," a Google employee sustained today.

As you might know if you're a Blogger user, the Google product hasn't been too stable and functional lately. However, the search giant improved it periodically and tried to bring it in the spotlights to make the service more popular among the bloggers. For example, one of the latest updates added to Blogger concerned a security filter, allowing the users to flag a certain blog as inappropriate. The new feature enabled visitors of a certain blog to mark it as harmful and, once the website recorded multiple complaints, it was flagged as inappropriate.

Usually, the Blogger encouraged the user to update to the latest version of the service and use the new settings, but as far I can see, the notification is now disabled and all clients are able to use any Blogger or Google account to control their page.
