New statistics demonstrate that Windows RT has many more users than other platforms

Windows RT has often been described as a very disappointing operating system, mostly due to the fact that it cannot run desktop applications, so the overall market share of Microsoft’s new tablet-oriented software isn’t quite exciting.

If there’s something Microsoft can be happy about when it comes to Windows RT, it’s the market share figures for Chrome OS, Google’s platform that currently accounts for 0.023 percent of the market, according to ZDNet.

That’s shockingly low, especially because Chromebooks have been around for two years or so, while Windows RT officially hit shelves in October 2012. What’s more, several developers, including Samsung, Lenovo, and Acer, have already launched their Chromebooks, while the number of Windows RT devices is still limited.

The full version of Windows 8, on the other hand, is far from becoming a successful product, as it currently has a 3.31 percent market share, even though more than five months have passed since its launch.
