Burglars ran off before the police could even respond to the alarm

Three men in dark clothes broke into a Best Buy located in Coconut Point, 8000 Mediterranean Drive, Estero early Monday morning and fled the scene in under a minute with an estimated $60,000 worth of iPads.

Although iPads mostly get stolen by highly organized gangs breaking into the glass fronts of Apple’s iconic stores, it seems to be just as easy to bust inside a Best Buy department and run off with dozens of iPads in just a minute.

Lee Sheriff’s Office deputies reportedly arrived at the Best Buy store in Coconut Point, 8000 Mediterranean Drive, Estero, where an alarm had been triggered just before 5 a.m.

The police is said to have found the rear door pried open and some merchandise on the floor.

What they didn’t find were 60 to 90 missing iPads amassing some $60,000 in stolen goods, according to the store’s manager.

The thievies were caught on film by the store’s surveillance cameras. The footage shows three men, all dressed in black moving in a very determined manner to grab the Apple tablets and leave.

They also had their heads covered, and were wearing gloves, according to the police report.

They reportedly took approximately 1 minute to take the iPads, place them in a black bin and run off before the cops would be able to respond to the alarm.

The store manager seems to have not specified what device models these Apple iPads were - first or second generation devices, WiFi-only or 3G capable, high or low storage capacities.

But whatever iPads these were, having between 60 and 90 of them stolen from your store spells a substantial loss.
