Publisher Midnight City has just released an announcement trailer for Gone Home, heralding the future arrival of the narrative driven adventure game on consoles for the first time.

Gone Home is a small scope indie game that's seen a lot of acclaim, developers The Fullbright Company delivering an engaging and unique interactive story experience that was awarded Spike TV's VGX "Best Independent Game," as well as being elected Polygon's "Game of the Year."

No specific date or platforms have been announced yet, but it's still good news nonetheless, as Fullbright's first game has so far sold over 250k units, which is quite a feat for an indie developer limited to a PC, Mac and Linux release.

Fullbright Company found Steve Gaynor has recently said that the bar for indie games is set pretty high currently, and it takes a lot to get noticed amid all the new games that pop up every day, as the element of surprise is gone and indies really have to struggle in order to be noticed.

Gone Home is certainly one of the best experiences the indie community has delivered, and in no danger of failing to be noticed by anyone. Gaming as a whole is getting pretty crowded, and if more titles like Gone Home will pop up because of that, it's going to be all for the better.

The story exploration game kicks off with players taking on the role of a young woman returning home after having spent a year abroad, only to find her family's house empty, with no clue as to what happened and where everyone is.

Players will then proceed to explore and search the house for clues, going over every little detail of a seemingly normal house in order to discover the story of the people who lived there. Gamers are invited to go through every drawer and open every door, to pick up objects and examine them in order to discover clues that will aid in piecing the story together, uncovering the events of the family's life by investigating what they've left behind.

Players will be guided in their exploration by a series of letters from the protagonist's sister, detailing the events that took place over the last year, and tells a very grounded and heartfelt story that's beautifully presented through environmental clues and audio narration and that provides the same experience readers seek when going through a book's pages in order to see life through someone else's eyes, which is rarely depicted as well in a video game.
