KOEI's Samurai Warriors: Katana has reached gold status and will start to ship to North American game shops starting the 15th of January 2008. For those who want to get their hands on this
Nintendo Wii game, pre-orders are already available form Gamestop, EBGames and
Amazon.
If you don't know many details about the game, the first thing we should tell you is that Samurai Warriors: Katana is an arcade-ish game that uses a first person perspective and is based, of course, on the Samurai Warriors series. As most of the Wii games, this one promises to be easy to learn by both veteran, as well as first time players.
The weapons will be controlled with the Wiimote and they will be both close ranged as well as long ranged. The player will be equipped with samurai swords, spears or war hammers and bows, guns and even cannons. Your enemies, the ninja assassins, will do their best to stop you in your quests like rescuing maidens from burning castles, exploring mysterious caverns and so on.
Samurai Warriors: Katana offers three different modes of play: Musou Mode, Vs. Mode and Trial Mode. While the last two are pretty self-explanatory, with Vs. Mode allowing two players to compete against each other in eight mini games and Trial Mode being some kind of tutorial, the Musou is the real campaign, offering about 30 hours of gameplay.
Here are the official words about the game, coming from Amos Ip, Senior Vice President of KOEI: "Samurai Warriors: Katana thrusts players right into the heat of battle. We're inviting everyone to experience this amazing and dynamic first-person adventure. By mastering different weapons using the motion-sensitive Wii Remote, veteran and first-time players alike will discover a whole new dimension of excitement from the Samurai Warriors series of games." Everything starting the 15th of January.
