South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has been long rumored to plan the release of a new flagship Android-based handset this summer, and some more info on the matter is now available.

The latest reports on this suggest that LG is also planning the release of a Golden variant of the device, one that could arrive on shelves alongside other color variants of the phone.

According to The Verge, the upcoming flagship smartphone from the vendor is sure to arrive on the market in the aforementioned Gold flavor, and a leaked photo of its retail box is also available to prove that.

Apparently, LG is determined to follow the latest industry trends with the release of a Gold variant of the new phone, since companies such as Apple, Samsung, and HTC have already adopted it.

Gold Galaxy S5, HTC One, and iPhone 5S models are available for purchase today, and even LG has released its own version of the LG G2 handset colored this way.

Apparently, the South Korean phone maker, which previously confirmed plans to launch a new flagship in the coming months, did not comment on the leaked info on the upcoming Android-based device.

However, the company is said to have unveiled that the phone would indeed arrive on shelves with a screen capable of delivering a 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution, something that has been long rumored to be included in it.

According to previous reports, the handset will pack a large, 5.5-inch touchscreen display. Moreover, it is expected to be the first device from a top manufacturer to be able to deliver the aforementioned 2K resolution.

Samsung was expected at the beginning of this year to include such a high-resolution screen on the Galaxy S5, but that did not happen, and it seems that LG will be able to adopt the technology before it.

What remains to be seen, however, is what other high-end capabilities the device will pack inside, in addition to the top-of-the-line display. 3GB of RAM might also be present inside it, rumor has it.

LG is currently expected to make the smartphone official sometime in June, though it might not arrive on shelves before July, it seems.

While no official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now, chances are that LG will unveil more on its plans for LG G3 in the near future, so keep an eye on this space to learn additional details.
