Dakota and Jamie Dornan start promotion for new film

What better platform to promote a new project than the Golden Globes, the gala that honors achievement in both television and film, has serious standing in the industry, but is light enough to be popular with mainstream audiences as well?

So at the 2015 edition of the Golden Globes, Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan officially kicked off the promo trail for their breakthrough project, the film “Fifty Shades of Grey,” based on the best-selling adult novel by E.L. James of the same name.

Dakota really brought it on the red carpet, fashion-wise.

Fifty Shades of Silver

Jamie Dornan didn’t wear a grey tie as his on-screen character Christian Grey would have (which would have been like a kinky hat tip to the millions of readers out there), so it fell on Dakota to do something out of the ordinary.

We assume it’s on purpose that she chose this gorgeous, metallic, shimmering Chanel dress with a long trail that pooled at her feet, giving the impression she was wearing liquid metal. Johnson paired it with Jimmy Choo shoes, Chanel Jewelry, and a bag by Rauwolf.

The only way in which she would have looked even more fabulous is if her hair didn’t look as if she’d just stepped out to buy milk: whether from the lack of product or because she really had no one to style her hair, she rocked a messy ‘do that did a great disadvantage to such an eye-catching dress.

She could and should have done better with the styling.

Anastasia and Christian team up

While Dakota’s red carpet appearance was nearly flawless, not the same is said about her presenting gig with co-star Jamie Dornan.

Several weeks ago, a rumor was making the rounds about how the entire cast and crew on “Fifty Shades” had been called for reshoots because the chemistry between the leads was simply not there, and more scenes were needed to make it happen.

The same rumor was heard after their first interview together, on The Today Show, when the awkwardness was almost painful: either they were nervous or they really had zero chemistry, but they made it difficult to believe they could ever be convincing as lovers – let alone as passionate as Anastasia and Grey.

The same kind of talk is heard online right now, after their appearance at the Globes: The Wrap, for one, says they’ve not seen such awkwardness since James Franco co-hosted the Oscars with Anne Hathaway, and we all know how disastrous that was.

Dakota and Jamie didn’t make eye contact one single time during their brief moment on stage, and they acted as if they couldn’t wait until it was over.

Well, at least Dornan looked absolutely delicious, so there’s always that.
