Shia LaBeouf announced just recently that he was retiring from the spotlight but, so far, he’s doing a pretty lousy job at keeping his word because he’s still tweeting regularly. His most recent tweets attacked Jim Carrey for making him the butt of a joke at the Golden Globes 2014.

However, one could say, considering the kind of stunts Shia has been pulling as of late and the amount of media attention he’s been receiving for it, he should have probably seen it coming. He should have probably expected far worse.

At one point during the ceremony, Carrey stepped on stage to perform his hosting duties and he kicked off his speech with a jab at Shia. “Dying is easy. Comedy is hard. I believe it was Shia LaBeouf who said that. So young, so wise,” Carrey said as peals of laughter were heard in the audience.

Back at home, Shia was not amused so he took to Twitter to let him know that. Of course, he did it in his typical, rambling manner.

“If you explain @JimCarrey you've killed him, Nobody knows if it's for real or not. That way he's immortal,” he wrote. He also posted a link to a video of Jane’s band and added, “At least I don't get arrested for indecency on major LA highways! Or abandon love child's.”

While fans agreed that this was a very low blow (even for Shia), Carrey’s rep reached out to him for a retraction. The “Transformers” star obliged him but, once more, he did it in his own way.

“Jim Carrey states that he is deeply involved in his daughter's life – I accept that. Regret tweet on the matter. Apologies to both parents,” he wrote, adding, “I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE.”

He’s deleted the offensive tweet, just to make sure. As for that last one, about how he is “not famous anymore,” we do believe being famous is simply not something that you can turn off when you decide you no longer want it.

Saying it doesn’t make it true for Shia, ALL-CAPS or not – especially if he says it as part of a bigger stunt, which “incidentally” comes shortly before the release of a new movie. That one is very hard to ignore.
