“Breaking Bad” won 2013 in television and no, it wasn’t just because it ended. The AMC series has been compared to “The Sopranos” in terms of character development and brilliant writing, and, as it turns out, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association agrees.

The nominees for the Golden Globes 2014, which will take place on January 12 and will be hosted by comedy duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, have just been announced. As usual, you can find the complete list below, while here are the Golden Globes 2014 nominees in Film.

“Breaking Bad,” starring Bryan Cranston as a chemistry teacher turned meth cook and drug kingpin, and Aaron Paul as his ever-faithful and foul-mouthed sidekick, has nabbed several nominations, including for Best Television Series Drama, Best Actor Drama, and Best Supporting Actor Drama, for Cranston and Paul, respectively.

“House of Cards,” “Orange Is the New Black,” and “Arrested Development,” all three Netflix series, also landed nominations. “The Big Bang Theory” and “Modern Family” killed it in the comedy categories but, then again, since this happens almost every year, it probably comes as no surprise to true fans.

HBO’s controversial “Behind the Candelabra,” the unofficial Liberace biopic with Michael Douglas as the star and Matt Damon as his lover / protégé, a movie that was billed by various studios as “too gay” to ever see the light of day, scored 4 nominations, including for Best Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television, Best Actor (both for Damon and Douglas) and Best Supporting Actor for Rob Lowe.

Another biopic that was nominated, albeit just once, was “Burton and Taylor,” which earned Helena Bonham Carter a nod in Best Actress for her portrayal of the late Dame Elizabeth Taylor.
