Before he made “Dallas Buyers Club,” Jared Leto had been out of movies for no less than 6 years, keeping busy with his musical project, the successful 30 Seconds to Mars band. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has awarded him with a Golden Globe for his comeback at last night’s edition.

Leto was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in film, going up against Barkhad Abdi (“Captain Phillips”), Daniel Bruhl (“Rush”), Bradley Cooper (“American Hustle”) and Michael Fassbender (“12 Years a Slave”).

The video above is his acceptance speech, after he was presented with the award by Christoph Waltz. Leto was wearing a gorgeous Saint Laurent tux and had his glorious ombre hair in a half ponytail half bun ‘do.

He thanked the HFPA and his fans for supporting his comeback and making it a great one, said he had never imagined his role would get this much attention, and talked about how hard it was for him to become his character.

In “Dallas Buyers Club,” Leto plays a transvestite who suffers from AIDS, so not only did he have to lose a lot of weight but also to wax all the hair off his body, including his eyebrows.

Towards the end of the video, you can see Jared is choking on tears. It was an emotional moment, for sure, and a well-deserved win.
