“Harry Potter” star was one of the boldest looks of the night, albeit slightly confusing

Emma Watson is young, beautiful, and not afraid to take risks on the red carpet, which basically makes her every designer’s dream come true. At the Golden Globes 2014, she wore a Dior Couture creation that soon became the talk of the town.

If you check out the two photos in the gallery below, it’s not hard to understand why: the outfit Emma was wearing looked like a dress from the front but was a backless top with pants in the back.

Various reports online note that there was a general gasp as Emma appeared on the red carpet, wearing what everyone assumed was a gorgeous, classic-cut red gown with only a bow at the waist to make it pop.

The gasp was even louder when she turned her back to the cameras because, underneath the dress which wasn’t actually a dress, she was wearing pants. The design was almost entirely backless.

To make her outfit stand out even more, Emma accessorized with blue shoes and kept her hair in a low bun, with a strict side parting. Makeup was minimal, save for a spot of color on the lips with bright red lipstick.

For the afterparty, Emma changed into a flimsy black dress which, though more practical, was not as bold as this Dior Couture outfit.
