For three years in a row, Ricky Gervais managed to deliver the goods – meaning, the perfect combination of entertainment and controversy – as host of the Golden Globes. He won’t be back for the 2013 edition.

NBC has just confirmed that Gervais won’t return as host of the awards show, the Daily Mail informs.

His job goes to comediennes Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who are also good friends but, at the same time, considerate enough to play by (most of) the rules.

They’re funny, they’re shameless but they also know not to cross certain boundaries, which Gervais has been accused of ignoring completely, so this makes them perfect candidates for the job.

Of course, Gervais’ 3-year stint did not hurt ratings (on the contrary, actually), even if he did step on the toes of many celebrities and even more fans, and despite the fact that he got plenty of heat in the media for it.

The Golden Globes 2013 will take place on January 13 and will air on NBC.
