Golden Globes 2013: Former President Bill Clinton Shows Up for “Lincoln”

One of the biggest surprises at the Golden Globes 2013 had nothing to do with the night’s winners, but rather with one of the public figures who showed up on stage to tout his support for one of the finalists: former US President Bill Clinton.

Check out his speech in the video above: he’s campaigning for Steven Spielberg and his critically acclaimed “Lincoln” with Daniel Day-Lewis.

Despite the inspirational speech by Clinton (whom Amy Poehler later referred to as “that was Hillary Clinton’s husband!”), “Lincoln” did not win, Ben Affleck’s “Argo” did.

However, various industry publications are saying, Clinton’s appearance was meant to offer good friend Spielberg support for the Oscars: the Golden Globes were just an excuse.

Useless to say, various media people are not seeing this with kind eyes, saying Spielberg is not fighting clean by asking for help from such powerful friends.
