Three times is enough, says British comedian about returning in 2013

This might sound a bit like the story of the little boy who cried wolf, but Ricky Gervais is insisting (again) that he won't be returning as host of the Golden Globes in 2013, which would make it his fourth time on the job.

After last year's public backlash which, ironically enough, translated into record ratings for NBC on the night of the Globes, both Gervais and the Hollywood Foreign Press Associations said he was done with the show.

That was, as we also noted at the time, his second time around. After some negotiations and, we're to believe, NBC imposing a strict set of rules, the comedian returned as host of the Globes at Sunday's ceremony, held and aired live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA.

However, this was definitely his last time, Ricky told journalists at a post-Globes party, as AceShowbiz informs.

“I'm really done this time. It's enough. Three is plenty – at least that's what Charlie Sheen told me,” Gervais told the press at the post-Globes party.

Further asked whether the F-bomb he dropped while speaking of Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek was his way of getting back at organizers for telling him to put a lid on it (“it” being the profanity and the potentially offensive jokes), Gervais assured reporters he played by all the rules.

“Oh no no no. The censors knew it was coming. That was planned,” he joked.

As for his impressions for the night, Gervais thought everything went smoothly, perhaps even smoother than the previous year, when he was allowed to basically do (and say) what he wanted.

“The crowd was with me this time. They went where I went. It's like they were ready for me this time and it felt pitch-perfect,” the comedian explained.

Reaction to Gervais' performance as host of the Golden Globes 2012 has been mixed. While some feel he did a wonderful job, others believe he held back too much and it showed.

Either way, everybody agrees, he put on a very entertaining show.
