Precisely one year ago, Natalie Portman was being confirmed as the critics' darling for the 2011 awards season, winning award after award for her role in “Black Swan.” At last night's Golden Globes, she made her return into the spotlight.

As fans would know, after the Oscars last year, Natalie went into hiding (for lack of a better term), as she prepared for what she called the challenge of her life: becoming a mommy for the first time.

Ever since she gave birth to her son Aleph, the already very press shy star kept a low profile whilst she enjoyed this special moment in life, together with her fiancé, ballet dancer Benjamin Millepied.

All that changed at the Golden Globes 2012, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles last night. Natalie made her return to the red carpet and, implicitly, the spotlight.

Her presence wouldn't have gone unnoticed even if it weren't for these things stated above. As it was, it only helped bring more attention on her and her amazing gown.

Dressed in a hot pink gown by Lanvin, with just the smallest red accent, Natalie was the picture of grace and style on the red carpet.

She usually wows by choosing a statement dress and understated jewelry, which further makes the dress and her remarkable features stand out – the same happened last night.

Portman accessorized with a bright red small clutch and fine diamond jewelry. Her hair and makeup were, as always, impeccable and extremely stylish.

Since her comeback into the spotlight was one of the events many were talking about, it couldn't pass by Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais without registering.

When he introduced her, he actually joked about her year off, as we also informed you earlier today.

“Last year, our next presenter won both the Golden Globe and the Oscar for her work in Black Swan. This year, she took some time out to have a baby. Consequently, she’s been nominated for nothing,” he said.

“Really pathetic. But she learned that valuable lesson you all already knew: Never put family first. Please welcome the very foolish Natalie Portman,” the cheeky Brit added.
