Of all the things that can go wrong on the red carpet, this must rank among the worst. Jessica Biel and Madonna had a very awkward encounter before the Golden Globes 2012 awards show, with the latter stepping on the former's dress.

As is customary with ever awards show, before the actual event, there's the red carpet ceremony, when stars pose for pictures and do press rounds.

The Globes held last night and airing live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA were no exception. However, things can go bad even when they're planned.

Each celebrity gets a few minutes with the press and they all have to stick to the strict schedule for everything to run smoothly.

Somehow, Madonna and Jessica Biel didn't stick to the schedule or were perhaps too caught up in the moment to avoid running into each other – literally.

As she was about to move on with the press tours, Biel had the not too pleasant surprise of noticing that someone was standing on her train, as the Daily Mail also notes.

Madonna had stepped on it, causing quite an awkward moment between the two and the countless people in their entourage, responsible to make them look good for the cameras.

“Despite holding it up to prevent it from dragging on the ground too much, Jessica felt a tug on the train of her elegant lace gown. She quickly reacted to avoid tearing her already-revealing split even further, reaching out to tell the 53-year-old what she'd done,” the British tab writes.

“The pair appeared to laugh awkwardly before going their separate ways. You'd think Madonna would have known to watch her step around the big dresses, donning a large train on her own number,” adds the Mail of Madonna's Reem Acra heavy and impressive gown.

Photos of the incident indeed show that both stars felt bad about the incident but, luckily, no damage was done to either fabulous design.

What's more important, no one was upset over the near-mishap.
