The fashion industry is obviously concerned about its impact on the environment. Eco-conscious designers have revealed their sustainability goals during the 2012 Golden Globes.

These days, it is all about fair trade, sustainable materials and green design. Apparently, no big show is important enough unless it rolls a red-green carpet.

Even though its exquisite 'Global Food Harmony' menu has been criticized by Global Green U.S.A for its enormous carbon footprint, celebrities and influent companies from the fashion industry did their best to green up the name of the event and managed to turn heads and attract admiration with their breath-taking dresses and accessories.

One of the biggest supporters of environmentally friendly strategies is Livia Firth, Colin Firth's wife, who has committed to bringing fabulous creations under the spotlight, signed by Chanel, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Stella McCartney and Yves Saint Laurent, as part of her third Green Carpet Campaign, organized every year.

Due to her collaboration with major brands, from now on she will wear only eco-friendly dresses during the most prestigious events. All the creations will appear on Vogue UK's blog.

“This is a 'concrete' commitment, and not just another excuse to talk about fashion and movie stars. A good example, we all know, is set from above and surely, if celebrities and actresses chose to endorse this attitude and approach towards fashion to convey such a significant message, everything would be much easier,” explained Franca Sozzani, the Italian Vogue editor on her blog.

Firth is also fully aware of the fact that most of the A-list celebrities are considered role models by millions of people all across the Globe; therefore, the clothes they wear can make a powerful green statement.

She succeeded in proving that sustainable fashion is really beautiful, by wearing an amazing dress made by Armani, using material coming from recycled plastic bottles.

Celebrities now dress to impress, taking into consideration that their jaw-dropping outfits have to display a deep respect for the environment. Designers appear to be convinced that environmental awareness expressed through their collections is the only way of staying in the game.
