Even though Tom Cruise wasn’t at the actual Golden Globes 2011 ceremony, he and wife Katie Holmes were both present at the Creative Artists Agency afterparty – where he reportedly did his best to avoid speaking with ex-wife Nicole Kidman.

In what could be a scene from your standard high school movie, Tom Cruise saw Nicole was at the same party as him, and went out of his way to not cross paths with her, PageSix reports.

Admittedly, the actor flew in precisely to attend the party. It’s not certain whether he knew Nicole would also be there, or what he would have done had he known.

Also unknown is what may have prompted such a reaction from the actor, since it’s been nearly 10 years that he divorced Nicole – and, presumably, all resentment should have dissipated.

“Tom Cruise and ex-wife Nicole Kidman kept a safe distance from each other as they partied at the same Golden Globes bash. Cruise and wife Katie Holmes attended the Creative Artists Agency party at the Sunset Tower Hotel following the awards,” PageSix writes.

Also there was Nicole, who came accompanied by husband Keith Urban – and both exes made sure there was plenty of safe distance between them.

“There was no drama, but nobody saw them have a conversation, either. Tom and Nicole stayed apart all night, but they must have seen each other. Everybody was mingling, but they kept their distance,” one source says for the e-zine.

Among those who did mingle, PageSix names A-listers like Robert De Niro, Jane Fonda, Christina Aguilera, Anne Hathaway, Julianne Moore, Scarlett Johansson, Halle Berry, Oliver Stone, John Legend, Demi Moore and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The next day after the Globes, Nicole Kidman announced she and Keith had become parents of a baby girl named Faith Margaret, who was born by surrogate and is their second child.
