Natalie Portman is officially in the Oscar race for Best Actress, having taken home the Golden Globe for the same category last night, at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards, for “Black Swan.”

The pregnant star, looking her usually stunning self in a nude colored gown with a giant red rose on her chest, took to the stage to accept her award – and surprised anyone when she started giggling about her fiancé, as the video below will confirm.

Portman is known for her obstinacy in not speaking about her personal life, a thing she also insisted on when she announced she was pregnant and engaged, but last night was different.

In fact, if anything, with her acceptance speech and the loving way she talked about fiancé Benjamin Millepied, she actually proved that she was just a girl head over heels in love who is not doing media about her love life because she’s too protective, it is being said.

Portman thanked her grandmother for giving birth to her mother and then to her parents for bringing her into the world. This way, she got to speaking about the child she’s expecting.

“Thank you to Benjamin, who is helping me continue this creation of creating more life,” Natalie said.

However, Millepied’s involvement goes beyond being the father of Portman’s baby, since he also worked on making “Black Swan.”

“Benjamin choreographed the film, and also you might remember him in the movie as the guy when they ask, ‘Would you sleep with that girl?’ And he’s like, ‘Pffsh, no.’ He’s the best actor. It’s not true: He totally wants to sleep with me!” Natalie said before starting to giggle like a school girl.

In the same speech, the actress also thanked director Darren Aronofsky for allowing her to bring her creative input to the project that has been in the making for about 10 years.

“Darren, I met you 10 years ago, and we talked about this for the first time, and thank you for continuing to work on this movie and then to give me such a beautiful, beautiful gift with this role,” she said.

“Every time we finished our takes, you would say, ‘Now do this one for yourself,’ and that gave me such beautiful inspiration as an actor to not just be a muse, that I could create on my own as well. I love you so much and you’re the most wonderful and I’m so grateful to you,” the actress added.

While there’s no reason to doubt Natalie’s honesty in her acceptance speech, there’s some rumbling online that, while she tried to play the humility card, she actually came across as conceited and full of herself.

Below is the video of Natalie Portman’s acceptance speech in the Best Actress category at the 2011 Golden Globes. You be the judge.

They misquoted her in this. She said, "...that gave me such beautiful inspiration as an actor to not just be a muse...", not "...that gave me such beautiful inspiration as an actor to not just be amused...". It's always nice to see some jam up journalism......

You're absolutely right. A correction has been made, thank you for pointing this out to me.

Best,

She was humble and joyous, I don't know what your problem is and why using the phrase "full of herself" fits in this speech.
