At the 2011 Golden Globes Awards, the celebrity guestlist also included power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, a fact that was made beyond obvious with repeated cuts to their table throughout the night.
With producers making it such a point of
showing off the two to boost ratings, an older topic is back on the table and up for discussion, especially with celebrity bloggers: Jolie’s Golden Globes nomination for “The Tourist.”
Ever since the nominations were announced and the critically panned and commercial flop
“The Tourist” was included, talk had it that Jolie’s nod came only as a sure way for producers to have her at the ceremony and thus boost ratings.
The repeated cuts to her and Pitt would seem to confirm that,
this blogger believes. It was as if producers were like constantly reminding viewers that Jolie and Pitt were in the house.
“Did Angelina just get a nomination so that she and Brad would show up? And what does it mean that Ricky was openly mocking her (and Depp)? Is it a signal that her career is DOOMED? Or that Ricky was simply joking and everyone needs to settle down?” CB asks.
Further confirmation that Jolie was nominated precisely so that she showed up is to be found in the fact that she lost. And so did Johnny Depp.
“Angelina loses Best Comedic Actress. Johnny Depp loses Best Comedic Actor. The Tourist loses Best Comedy. To make matters worse, Megan ‘The Poor Man’s Angelina’ Fox presents The Tourist’s best Picture clips,” CB writes.
Another conspiracy theory about Pitt and Jolie has to do with their absence from the table sometime in the middle of the awards ceremony, which has prompted speculation that they’d gone to the bathroom for “a quickie,” says
Rolling Stone.
“The funniest moment? Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt got busted sneaking back into the room. They were flamboyantly entwined all night, with Angie suggestively adjusting Brad’s bowtie at one point right before a commercial break,” the mag writes.
“Then the camera caught them slipping back to their table together, walk-of-shame-style, after a mysterious absence — perhaps to ‘adjust the bowtie.’ A few moments later, she was conspicuously re-applying her lip gloss. Subtle! No doubt it was totally innocent, right?” RS asks.
CB also concurs, also throwing in an argument that could only come from a woman: Jolie’s hair is getting progressively worse throughout the night, and looks completely disheveled after she and Brad return from their “bathroom break.”
