Apple is struggling to satisfy demand for flagship color model

The new iPhone 5s has been on sale for about an hour now and already Apple has been forced to push deliveries of the Gold model to October. Moreover, the company has placed more manufacturing orders to fulfill demand.

In what is a very unsurprising scenario, Apple is faced with depleted Gold iPhone 5s stock hours after its new smartphone went on sale in 10 key territories around the globe, including the United States, the UK, China (and various other European and Asian territories), as well as Australia.

The new Gold finish is pretty much the only thing that distinguishes the new model from the previous-generation iPhone 5, at a glance.

While the Gold iPhone 5s is currently estimated to ship in October (for new orders placed at the time of this writing), the other versions – Silver and Space Gray – are currently slated to ship in 1-3 business days.

The Wall Street Journal has learned from people familiar with the matter that, “Apple Inc. has asked its suppliers to increase production of the gold-colored iPhone 5S by an additional one-third after seeing strong demand.”
