We have just received word that Alone in the Dark developer has finished its job and we'll soon get the chance to purchase and play the game. In other words, it means that the anticipated horror title has gone gold and it will hit retail stores on the 20th of June in Europe and the 24th in North America for Xbox 360, PC, Wii and the PlayStation 2. As you probably know, the PlayStation 3 version has been delayed to fall 2008.

Developed by Eden Games for Xbox 360 and PC, Alone in the Dark promises to change what people expect from horror-action games with a reinvention of the classic franchise that created the survival horror genre everybody loves today. The new Alone in the Dark will offer a DVD-style story and cinematic presentation, a real "next-gen" gameplay and, of course, a frightening story.

"With its genre-busting mix of gameplay, wide-screen presentation style and DVD chapter select feature putting the player in control, Alone in the Dark will thrill all gamers," said Phil Harrison, President of Infogrames Entertainment. "It's a game which will challenge the player but also reward them with a one-of-a-kind video game experience and a huge amount of fun."

Hydravision Entertainment helped Eden Games and created the Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 2 versions of the game, bringing in a few tweaks and goodies to make the title rise to the standards set by the next-gen iterations. This means that the Wii version will enjoy some exclusive wiimote control schemes and real-time manipulation of objects, while the PlayStation 2 one will push hardware to the limit. We're sure that PS3 owners are wondering what extras their version will get this fall.

Several European retailers will offer, in addition to the standard game, Xbox 360, PC and Wii Limited Editions of Alone in the Dark. The Limited Edition features exclusive items including hero figurine, art book and a making-of documentary.
