Microsoft is getting ready to launch a new golden phone

Microsoft is working to launch new limited-edition Windows Phone models in China, and in addition to the golden Lumia 830 that we told you about yesterday, it appears that another one is on track to see daylight in the coming weeks.

Photos of what appears to be a gold edition of Lumia 930 leaked in China, and as compared to the 830 version, this time Microsoft might go for some real gold for this model.

Chinese website IThome published a collection of photos with a gold-plated Lumia 930 (Yes! Gold-Plated!) and even revealed a price that could be used when the device becomes available later this year.

According to this source, the device could be sold for 3,200 Chinese Yuan, which is approximately $515 and €430. The price is not at all overwhelming for a gold-plated phone, so don't take this for granted right now.

Beautiful design which could only appeal to magnates

Overall, the gold-plated Lumia 930 surely looks good and you must love the branding on both sides of the phone, which clearly shows that we're dealing with a very limited-edition model.

And still, since the price might actually be heftier than the one mentioned above (because we're talking about 24-carat gold, after all), this device might only appeal to magnates who can afford to purchase a device that's covered in gold.

There's one big question though. How many of these rich businessmen would actually buy a Windows Phone device and not a Vertu or a more exquisite device?

Same technical specs as in the standard 930

In terms of technical specifications, the gold plating does not change anything about the device, so you get the same 5-inch screen with a resolution of 1080x1920px and Gorilla Glass 3 coating, as well as 32 GB of storage space and 2 GB of RAM. And no, there's still no microSD card support, but instead you get a terrific 20-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics.

For selfies, there's a 1.2-megapixel 720p front camera that's just perfect to take a photo of yourself covered in money, while the 2420 mAh battery should be enough for a full day of use.

Unfortunately, there's still no Glance Screen support, but we're pretty sure that someone who has enough money to purchase a gold-plated phone would not be interested in such a feature.
