Almost a month ago, Chinese photographic equipment manufacturer Godox was rumored to be working on the successor of the recently released Ving V850 flashgun that will integrate TTL functions.

Today, Godox officially announced the Ving V860 flash for Canon digital SLR cameras. The new flashgun incorporates all the features of its older brother, but adds through-the-lens metering (TTL) to the equation.

Godox Ving V860 comes with HSS (High Speed Sync) capabilities of up to 1/8000 of a second either on or off camera, and it can be used as master flash to trigger Canon speedlites including 600EX-RT or 580EX II using TTL or Manual modes.

The new V860 can also be used as a slave unit being capable of receiving wireless commands from Canon 7D, 60D, 600D, etc. as well as from various Canon speedlites.

From the TTL perspective, nothing has been left out, as Godox Ving V860 supports Rear Curtain Sync, Modeling Flash, FE Lock, Exposure Compensation and Bracketing, control via camera's menu screen, and many other features.

The flash has a guide number of 58 (GN58) at ISO 100 and 105mm with TTL, Manual, Multi, S1, and S2 modes, and an Auto/Manual zoom of 24-105mm that comes with correct auto focus assist.

As its predecessor, the Ving V860 sports the same powerful Li-ion battery that features a 1.5s recycle time at maximum power and can last up to 650 full power bursts. This is quite convenient and allows you to save space without having to carry lots of spare AA batteries to replace them when needed.

Price and availability is yet to be announced but, according to the latest rumors, the new Godox Ving V860 for Canon DSLRs will launch in March, while the Nikon version will be released one month later.

Recently, Nissin has also announced a new compact flashgun designed for both small DSLRs and mirrorless digital cameras.
