In the United Kingdom

The staying power that Wii Fit, the fitness game that comes packed with a Balance Board and enough exercise options to get anyone into shape, has in the United Kingdom is truly amazing.

After being dethroned by Resident Evil 5 for a few weeks in a row, the game has managed to sell better than The Godfather II from Electronic Arts, which is in its first week at retail. And, true to the franchise, Godfather is really an offer few gamers can refuse.

Mario & Sonic is also enjoying a resurrection of sorts, as the Olympic Games title has gone from number nine last week to number three. Meanwhile, the first videogame that has seen a drop in the chart is Resident Evil 5, the Capcom zombie shooter, which now sits at number four, still showing a great run after quite a few weeks at the top. Unfortunately, the Versus modes added via paid digital download did not help the game shift more copies.

FIFA 09 from EA Sports is now sitting at number five, followed closely by Call of Duty: World at War, created by Treyarch and published by Activision.

The only Nintendo DS game in the chart is Professor Layton and the Curious Village, from Nintendo, which has remained at the same spot in the chart as last week, not seeing any bump from the good sales of the new version of the hardware it runs on, the DSi. Wii Play is also making a comeback, at number eight, followed by Mario Kart Wii, at number nine, and Street Fighter IV, which is getting ready to leave the top ten.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars from Rockstar and Take Two seems to be confirming the fears of analysts that Mature-rated games do not do well on the DS, going from number ten to 19 in the United Kingdom videogame chart.
