God of War is a video game that was developed by SCE Studio Santa Monica and was published by Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc.
The game was launched exclusively on the PlayStation 2 home gaming console from Sony and recently they have also been given a High Definition relaunched on the next gen PS3.
It was launched during the month of March 2005.
The title can be classed as being an action title that is played from a third person perspective with elements taken from ancient myths, fantasy and the adult genre.
God of War is one of the classic PlayStation titles and has spawned its own genre over the year.
The hero of the story is a tough Spartan warrior called Kratos who lead his people into battle but is now a wreck haunted by the nightmares of his past.
He is now serving the Gods of Olympus in order to get forgiveness and freedom from them and is set to do battle with Ares, the God of War, in order to please Athena.
The main mechanics of the game is the battles, which involve a large number of enemies and a lot of moves for Kratos, including the now famous over violent combos.
The player can upgrade the weapons of his character as the game progresses and some magic options also open up.
The game also features some light puzzle elements and some limited platforming.
