Sony is gearing up to release the definition God of War Master Collection later this year, as a large online retailer has posted a listing for such a package on its website, before the Japanese company made any sort of announcement.

Sony's God of War series is by far one of its most important exclusive franchises, seeing multiple releases arrive on the old PlayStation 2, the PlayStation Portable as well as the newer PlayStation 3, all managing to sell a huge amount of units, given the popularity of the property.

Now, after seeing Sony release a special God of War HD Collection for the PS3, consisting of the first two titles that appeared on the PS2, but remastered in high definition, and after hearing that a God of War Origins Collection is coming to the same platform, consisting of the two games made for the PSP, it seems that yet another bundle is coming.

According to a listing from Amazon Germany, via CVG, Sony is preparing to debut the God of War Master Collection for the PlayStation 3, consisting of all the games released up until now in the series, all remastered, except God of War 3, for the home console.

The collection should consist of God of War 1, 2 and 3, as well as God of War: Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta, and is scheduled to appear, according to the listing, on September 16, right alongside the already released God of War Origins Collection, which bundles the two PSP titles.

Basically, if you've been living under a proverbial rock and have yet to experience the extremely popular hack and slash series, this is the definitive pack of all the games made up until now.

No word yet from Sony about this God of War Master Collection, but, knowing its open strategy to big collections and remastered titles, it's quite likely that the official announcement might be made in the near future, probably at the end of this week during the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con, which takes place in California.
