Sony Santa Monica, the developer of the God of War franchise, has clarified a few recent reports that claimed it was working on The Last Guardian, another one of Sony's internal projects, saying that, besides collaborating in terms of knowledge sharing, it hasn't helped Team Ico, the studio behind the project.

The Last Guardian is an eagerly awaited project from Sony but, after being revealed to the world back in 2010, it entered a cone of shadow and apparently suffered quite a lot of revisions that resulted in the departure of Team Ico boss Fumito Ueda, who is now just consulting on the whole title.

Many reports have appeared in recent months, some saying that The Last Guardian is coming to the PS4 and that Sony Santa Monica is helping out on the project.

Now, Santa Monica's director of technology, Tim Moss, has clarified some of these rumors, saying that it's not actively working on The Last Guardian.

"I'm never really sure how that got in the press, because as far as I'm aware we're not helping out with The Last Guardian," he told Eurogamer.

"The only way you can say that is the knowledge that we contribute back to the central tech groups benefits The Last Guardian. So I'm guessing someone was slightly misquoted."

According to Moss, all of Sony's internal teams visit each other and share knowledge about extracting the biggest amount of power from the PS3.

"The different Sony first-party teams do not necessarily actively work together, but we do communicate with each other," he explained.

"We tend to visit each other several times a year, and doing so we may exchange ideas. They've been here, and we've been there. We do ask each other how are you doing that, and just sometimes go over to provide feedback."

Sony mentioned after presenting the PS4 that more The Last Guardian details would be shared when the time was right.
