After quite a lengthy wait, Sony has confirmed official release dates for God of War: Ascension outside North America, revealing when PS3 owners in Europe, the UK and Ireland, as well as Australia or New Zealand can try out the new hack and slash experience.

God of War: Ascension acts as a prequel to the current franchise and sees players take control of Kratos before he became the so-called “Ghost of Sparta.” What’s more, besides this rather intriguing single-player campaign, the game also features a multiplayer mode in which players create their own heroes and fight across different stages and levels.

The game has already been detailed by developer Sony Santa Monica and we even tried it out back at E3 2012, where we were quite impressed with the online experience.

Now, after confirming a release date for the game in North America many months ago, Sony has now revealed when PS3 owners from other parts of the world would be able to play the hack and slash game.

First up are those in the Europe and PAL region, who get God of War: Ascension on March 13. Those in Australia and New Zealand get it on March 14, while PS3 owners in the UK and Ireland receive the game on March 15.

In case you forgot, North American gamers will be able to play Ascension on March 12.

What’s more, besides the release dates, Sony also revealed that the aforementioned territories would receive not just the game, but also two impressive versions of it, in the form of the Special Edition and the Collector’s Edition, so check out their descriptions below.

The Special Edition will feature a premium steelbook game case, the official game soundtrack (digital version), PS3 dynamic theme and avatar pack, and a multiplayer double XP bonus.

The Collector’s Edition features the ultimate GoW collectible, an 8-inch Kratos figurine. Packaged in a premium steel book game case, the set will also include the official game soundtrack (digital version), a PS3 dynamic theme and avatar pack, a double XP bonus for multiplayer and a DLC pass to unlock all future DLC for the game at no additional cost.

Expect to hear more details about both of these editions and about the DLC that will be released for God of War: Ascension in the future.
