14 DAY TRIAL // More excerpts from Kim Kardashian’s Elle UK interview have been released online: the January 2015 issue is all about body confidence, so naturally, they assumed the world’s most overexposed reality star, who gets all the credit for imposing a new body type, opposed to model stick-thin, would be just the person to talk to about that.
We already know that Kim admitted that she wasn’t always as confident as she is today and that, growing up, she actually used to cry and pray at night for smaller curves, as she believed she didn’t fit in because she developed early and all the other girls were slender and pretty much shapeless.
Apparently, Kim namedrops God twice in the interview, because she also blames him for making her gain weight during her pregnancy with North, as some sort of punishment for being too hot.
Kim Kardashian gets God mixed into the conversation
Since she gave birth to North in the summer of 2013, Kim has been talking non-stop about how hurt she was about being “bullied” for gaining weight during pregnancy and how hard it was for her to get back in shape after the birth.
To show off the results of all this hard work, she even took off her clothes twice this year to pose for a magazine – what’s a girl to do to show body confidence if not that?
Speaking with Elle about what a rough journey she’s had to the level of confidence she has today, Kim details her theory about why she gained as much weight as she did during pregnancy.
This is priceless: “I’d think God was doing this for a reason. He was saying: ‘Kim, you think you’re so hot, but look what I can do to you.’ My body just went crazy. After five months I swore I’d never get pregnant again. I got so huge and it felt like someone had taken over my body. I’d be sitting there, nearly 200lbs [90.7 kg], crying and swearing this will never happen again, and sometimes I’d actually be laughing about it.”
She also says that she wears less makeup today than she did before having her daughter, because she wants to be “skin on skin” with her and because Kanye, her husband, likes her “more natural” – but it’s the above quote that’s getting a lot of attention online right now.
Kim’s intention got lost in translation
If you think about it, what Kim is saying isn’t really that outrageous, because she’s trying to joke about how she was shown how her body could one-up her just when she thought she couldn’t possibly look hotter.
Probably many women could identify with what she’s saying, especially if they’ve had one child and have gone through the transformations that come with pregnancy. However, in between thinking this and saying it out loud, Kim got lost – and she comes across as bragging about how hot she used to be, so hot that even God thought it best to “punish” her by making her fat.
Of all the things God did or does, taking it out on Kim K for being too hot for this world is probably last on his priorities.
