Hovland cables making me laugh at the ridiculous price. Utility in question.

No further than yesterday I was writing about Hovland and their Stratos amplifier selling for the staggering sum of 50,000 USD. As I did yesterday, I still (at least) smile when I remember this thing. But if you think this is all Hovland can sell for absurd amounts of money you're oh so wrong.

Truth is that pretending that $50K for a 400W amplifier is OK couldn't possibly go with asking some decent 100 dollars on the cables, am I right... or am I right? So Hovland decided they should make some reference cables to be able to withstand the awing coolness of the sound passing through some incredibly expensive gear... and they actually made them!

Now, don't you think that such cables are like God's audio cables and they will make your crappy sound system ascend to a "higher level of conscience" and produce sublime tunes. How can I say your audio equipment at home is crappy, you might angrily ask... well, have you paid more than $49,999.95 on it? You didn't, therefore it is crappy and you'll never be able to get to know what sound really is!

These cables come with Rhodium-plated end pieces and are shielded. What more could I say about them? I really don't know, because there really can't be too much to tell about a cable - for those who might have less knowledge on what an audio cable means or could be like I'll say that capacitance (residing in the metal used for the proper wires and their shape) and electromagnetic shielding (preventing interferences and loss of signal in cables under 10 feet long) are about everything which can be worked on in a cable.

Apart from these things, little can be changed such as to manufacture some sort of "cable of all cables" cable, let's face it. Adding Gold or Platinum or Rhodium actually prevents the rust and overall decay of the connecting ends and may improve a bit the signal-flow but, in any case, it does not cover the staggering price.

OK, I've been talking enough about how expensive these cables are so I'll end my semi-rant telling you that if you think you want to be Hovland-cool and get some "decent" cables you'll end up paying an almost blasphemous $795 for 2 cables 3 feet long each.

Ah, but they have that Rhodium stuff there, see?
