GoblinX is a Live CD based on the Slackware distribution. GoblinX Live CD is directed towards those users who appreciate quality applications and a workspace that is both practical and beautiful; it contains some of the most used and praised applications for Linux.

GoblinX is a completely operational Linux system contained on one CD and it runs from any CD-ROM drive, without requiring any installation, since it was created using Linux live scripts.

Advantages of GoblinX LiveCD:

- GoblinX supports five different languages such as French, Portuguese, Spanish, Deutsch and English. You just have to type the desired language at the boot prompt and the system will be set in the language selected; for example if you want to start using English just press "enter", or type go.de for German, go.es for Spanish, go.br for Portuguese and go.fr for French.

- GoblinX allows you to add extra software applications to the Live CD while using it or by re-building the ISO file. These modules can be created by the user with the included toolset. There are some official modules available, but you can create your own.

- GoblinX is extremely easy to use. All you need is a bootable CD-ROM drive and the distro CD. It will run on your computer directly from the CD, using on-the-fly decompression. The first screen that appears after booting will allow you to choose the kernel image and add parameters to the system. However, you could just press "ENTER" at this prompt to use the default system settings.

- You can carry your favorite system around the world, to every place you like, since it is a Live CD bootable format distribution. You will be able to take it and use it in any computer, either at home, at school or on friends’ PCs.

GoblinX Mini Edition (1.4.0) release candidate is ready for testing: "The first release candidate of GoblinX Mini 1.4.0 is out today. The release candidate is out to anyone who wants to test and know more about the next release. There is a massive upgrade of packages and also Unionfs, SquashFS and kernel (2.6.16.12)." - read more in the release announcement.

I have tested this edition on an AMD Sempron 3000+ with 1 GB RAM and it works flawlessly. I was amazed to see how different the usual applications like Gimp, Gthumb or even Firefox can look when they are customized to the maximum. You should definitely download this Mini Edition, which fits in only 150 MB, and give it a try, you'll be amazed too!
