The "Mini" edition of GoblinX 2.5, codenamed "Goblins Attack at Halloween", was released yesterday.

This distribution contains only XFCE as windows manager, and GTK/GTK2 based applications. The most important upgrades since release candidate v.01 are the following:

A script was added to use module on the fly from Thunar/Nautilus. GtkKeyboard Layout, gtkSource, gtkHDInstall got upgraded. Also, the Media Manager received the same treatment and new policies to HAL and Ivman were added. A hidden Ivman home folder was created, because other applications need to save settings. The sudo/su and shadow errors got corrected, and the developers added one more feature, Xbindkeys, and configured special keys.

The first edition of the GoblinX distribution was released on 28th October 2004, and the developers celebrated their third anniversary. The repository was upgraded to match Slackware 12, and all the packages are new, including gcc4.

Everything is now rebuilt to gcc4, and the packages come from Slackware 12 and GoblinX Mini 2.5, for the GoblinX Live-CD.

What's GoblinX?

GoblinX is a Live CD based on Slackware Linux, created by using Linuxlive scripts, by Flavio de Oliveira a.k.a Grobsch. The distribution is excellent for those of you who appreciate quality applications and a workspace that is practical and beautiful. Some of the most common used and praised applications for Linux are packed in it, and lets everyone to customize the operating system, in an easy manner. It is supported in five languages, and employs a modular system that allows you to add applications to the liveCD while using it or by building the ISO file. Features can be enabled or disabled by adding kernel parameters to the system. Since it boots, you will see beautiful graphics and artistic features, and if you want to see what happens "under the hood" when GoblinX boots, you can press F2 and you will have an output of the boot messages.

The distribution is released under the GPL license, so you can freely modify and re-distribute it.
