Flavio Pereira de Oliveira announced last night (September 8th) the 3rd release of his popular Slackware-based Live CD Linux distribution, GoblinX GNOME, also known as G:Noblin. This new, stable version brings GNOME 2.24 as the default desktop environment and includes translations in many languages. But the most important feature in G:Noblin 3.0 is definitely the netbook interface, especially designed by the GoblinX team, based on Ubuntu Netbook Remix with some ideas from Foresight Linux.

"The GoblinX Project is proud to announce the release of the new stable G:Noblin distribution. The G:Noblin 3.0 is Released. The G:Noblin is the GoblinX Gnome and GTK/GTK2 based distribution. The edition is ideal for those users whose are fan of the Gnome desktop environment. This distribution is an old desire of GoblinX users." was said in the official release announcement.

Without any further introduction, here are the most important changes found in the new G:Noblin 3.0 Linux distribution:

· GNOME 2.24 desktop environment;
· Netbook interface based on Ubuntu Netbook Remix;
· Better support wireless devices;
· The netbook applications and interface were upgraded;
· Various libraries and packages were upgraded;
· Updated X.Org Server;
· Added Vuze and Java Runtime Environment (JRE);
· Added support for the xz extension (the new Slackware package format);
· Added a script to easily install Adobe's Flash Player plugin;
· Fixed various errors and bugs;
· Added a brand-new boot splash theme;
· Many other improvements and modifications...

Even if the developers updated the X.Org packages, it appears that there is an issue with the Intel video driver (xf86-video-intel), which does not work well with Linux kernel 2.6.27. Experienced users can change the a.NX11-3.0-i486-1.lzm package with the a.NX11-3.0-i486-2.lzm one and rebuild the ISO image. The second package includes an old version of the X.Org server, which works well with Intel video cards. The a.NX11-3.0-i486-2.lzm package can be downloaded from here.
