The update will bring new photo and video modes

A few months ago GoPro unveiled its latest cameras, which arrived in the wild as the HERO4 Black and Silver Editions.

The newcomers brought forth 4K video shooting at 30fps capabilities and a touchscreen display on different models.

Quite a while has passed since the two shooters went official, so GoPro believes it’s time to roll out a firmware update that will bestow some new features upon the two devices, as reported by Engadget.

So what can we expect to see when the new software comes along? First stop, both version are supposed to get a mode that auto-converts time lapses into video and a burst mode that will help users take 30 pictures over six seconds.

Another handy feature will be auto-rotate, which ensures that no matter in which position you’re filming you can get things right.

Being the better model out of the two, the Black edition will be awarded even more goodies. So the firmware update will bring about new shooting modes such as 720p at 240fps and 2.7K at 60fps.

On top of that, users will be able to add “highlight” tags during video playback.

When should we expect the software to be rolled out? GoPro hasn't said exactly, but the company shouldn't keep us waiting for long.
