Friday, the full specifications and first images of GoPro’s upcoming HERO4 camera which is said to arrive in two versions, one bringing forth the capacity of shooting in 4K at 30fps, while the other will be taking advantage of a built-in touch display.

Back then we told you that GoPro was expected to lift the veil off their new product on October 8, which incidentally is the same date HTC will be holding an event in New York where it will unleash a GoPro competitor.

GoPro to launch two HERO cameras next month

Anyway, as a new report from Peta Pixel reveals, the camera manufacturer will also be revealing another product, targeted at budget users.

This one will be an entry-level action camera and will simply be called HERO. But don’t expect any of premium features onboard, as the camera doesn’t even have wireless connectivity through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

However, it does have its perks. It offers high-quality video capture at 1080p at 30 fps and 720p at 60 fps, but those are the only two options you have to choose from. If you want more, you’d better look to the HERO3+ or upcoming HERO4.

The camera will bundle a Burst Photo feat that will allow photographers to snap 5 megapixel still frames at a 5 shot/per second rate. On top of that, there’s a 0.5 second Time Lapse function.

While finding yourself in low-light situations, the camera’s Auto Low Light mode will automatically adjust the frame rates so you can get the best results.

The HERO is outfitted with a rugged coating which makes the camera waterproof (can be immersed into liquid down to 131 ft / 40 m).

The housing is an integral part of the device and users will find that they can’t remove it. That’s why HERO will only be compatible with some accessories like the Frame (a mount for the HERO family) or LCD Touch BacPac.

Other features of the entry-level camera include a built-in microphone, a microSD card that brings about support up to 32GB plus a battery that can offer a battery life of up to 2.5 hours. The camera is pretty compact and light as it weighs just 0.2 lbs / 0.09 kg.

GoPro will probably price the HERO quite competitively

For the time being, we don’t know what the price for this entry-level model will be, but be sure we’ll update you when that information becomes available.

While we wait for the new cameras to become a reality, a video showcasing the two new cameras already leaked online. Sadly, it’s in Russian, but at least you get to check out what the camera looks and feels like.
