Underwater photography is a very interesting domain, for both experts and amateurs. All of those people who go scuba-diving or snorkeling are awed and amazed by the beauty of the underwater scenery, but it's quite difficult for someone to take back home some vivid proofs of that wonderful experience. Not anymore, it would seem, since a company called Vivitar has launched quite an interesting model of underwater camera, the ViviCam 6200w, capable of taking pictures of the marine life down to a depth of around 10 meters.

The ViviCam 6200w is quite well rubber-armored against the "deadly" action of water, and that's partially the reason why it doesn't have any optical zoom. Yes, there's a 4X digital zoom, but we all know just how "great" that is, don't we? Anyhow, the device does sport 6 megapixels, which could provide some pretty cool photos, in the right hands. Moreover, the ViviCam 6200w has a puny 16 MB internal memory, but is capable of supporting SD cards with capacities up to 1GB, much like any other low-end point and shoot cam on the market.

Here are some of the most important features and specs the ViviCam 6200w has to offer:

- dimensions: 118 x 71 x 36 mm; - weight: around 230 grams (without battery or SD card); - batteries: 2 x AA; - storage capacity: 16 MB internal memory, can be increased up to 1 GB via an SD card; - sensor: 6.0 Megapixels, CCD; - maximum photo resolution: 2816 x 2112 pixels; - maximum video recording resolution: 320 x 240; - display: 2-inch LTPS-LCD, 640 x 240 pixels; - file format: EXIF 2.2 & DCF 1.0, MJPEG, JPEG; - interface: USB 2.0.

There's no word on the pricing or availability yet, but if it's not too expensive, the ViviCam 6200w could prove to be quite a hit, especially for those amateur photographers who just want to bring back some interesting holiday memories.
