Google has just released updates for the web-based Gmail and iGoogle for the phones running under the Android operating system (HTC Dream/Magic) and for the Apple iPhone. According to the company, the update is meant to offer the possibility for quicker launch of future improvements, due to underlying code overhauled. In addition, the update also comes with faster address auto-completion and with keyboard shortcuts enabled.

According to some of the news reports on the web, the faster email address auto-complete is enabled via a new JavaScript and, while Android phone users will be able to get it as it is, iPhone users should make sure that they have the iPhone firmware 2.2.1 installed on their devices. In addition, the keyboard shortcut feature, which is available only for users of an HTC Dream/T-Mobile G1 handset, should enable the use of familiar keys to move through the inbox.

What iPhone users will be able to enjoy with the new update includes a faster and easier usage, tabs, as well as a larger number of Google Gadgets, including those that come from third parties. One more thing that the update brings is the possibility to rearrange gadgets according to one's needs. One thing that should be mentioned is that, although the order will be changed on the mobile device, their order in the desktop version will not be affected.

One things that should be mentioned here is that not all gadgets will be supported in mobile browsers, and those with Flash can be given as an example here. One of the nicest features that come with the update, the Google team says, is the in-line display of articles for feed-based gadgets, allowing users to read summaries without leaving the page. In addition, a series of new languages have been added to the new version of iGoogle for mobile, which is now available in a total of 38 languages.
