Owners of Android-based devices can now enjoy an updated Gmail application that brings along a nice range of enhancements for devices running Android 2.2 and higher.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich devices benefit from various bug fixes and performance improvements, along with better support for their tablet PCs that feature 7-inch screens. This means better support for Google Nexus 7 as well.

For those running Android 2.2 and up, Google has included Labels API for 3rd-party app developers, along with a set of performance improvements to deliver a better experience to all users.

No visual changes appear to have been included in the new release, which means that the aforementioned improvements are all under-the-hood.

Those who did not receive the update automatically can head over to the Google Play Store to download and install it.
