YouTube now displays Gmail commercials

Have you ever asked yourself why Google is such a successful company although its products are not even promoted on the Internet? Well, this is at least interesting because the search giant manages to attract an impressive number of users without placing adverts on other popular sites and sometimes, the company refuses to promote its products even on its own page. Take the example of Google Docs & Spreadsheets that was never advertised on the Internet, except some simple links published on the official page of the company. Although the number of the Google Search Engine visitors is quite impressive so it can be very easy to promote a service using its page, Docs & Spreadsheets is now very popular, being regarded as the next Office suite meant to replace the powerful Microsoft Office.

It seems like Google now adopts a different strategy because the company advertises its mail solution using another product owned by the firm. Its employees posted several commercials on YouTube to present the most important features owned by Gmail, using some simple puppets and their imagination. Although it is quite a low budget commercial, it has almost 19.500 views with 20 comments and 41 users that saved the video as favorite.

Gmail is now a public beta service, allowing users to register for free after it was available with an invitation for almost 3 years. The commercial revealed by Google is at least interesting because it uses a different approach than the one the company uses to design new projects. Although the commercial is based on a simple idea, without effects or other high technology elements, it continuously attracts viewers and YouTube users.

If you want to view the first commercial released by Google, you can watch it after the article. YouTube also contains more adverts created by the Google employees published on the page.
