And browser title bar tweaks

Google has simplified the process of adding very large or multiple items as attachments to emails in Gmail. As of February 25, Gmail users are able to enjoy additional flexibility when it comes down to email attachments, by no longer having to attach files one by one without any estimate as to when the attaching would be complete. The new Gmail update takes attachment capabilities to the next level as it permits users to attach multiple items and to receive information on just how long it will take for the proces to complete.

“We're making some changes to the way Gmail attachments work. If you want to send a few files from the same folder, simply hold down the Ctrl key (Cmd on OS X) and click on each file you want to attach to your message. You can also hold down the Shift key to select a continuous list of files. A definite time saver,” revealed Wes Carr, software engineer. “You'll not only save a few mouse clicks selecting files, but you'll also see progress bars on each file as it uploads.”

Following the introduction of the updates, Gmail now integrates closer with the operating system's file explorer. This permits users to handle multiple attachments simultaneously. At the same time, the progress bar is designed to help users visualize just how the process is moving along. However, support for adding multiple attachments to Gmail email doesn't mean that users will be able to enjoy drag and drop functionality, even though the implementation of such a feature would be possible via JavaScript.

In addition to the new multiple attachment capabilities, Google has also introduced browser title bar tweaks in Gmail Labs. “I added a tiny new feature to Gmail Labs called Title Tweaks that changes the order of the elements in the browser title bar to put the more important things first. Once you turn on Title Tweaks from the Labs tab under Settings, your browser title bar will display something more like "Inbox (3) – Gma..."” said Fëdor Karpelevitch, software engineer.
