A new feature debuted for Gmail is designed to increase the content management capabilities of the service. Users who are dealing with a flood of emails now have a new option, designed to organize content more efficiently compared to the traditional options already available. The new feature takes Gmail to the next level by taking the classic Inbox and multiplying it. In fact, Gmail users now have the option to take advantage of multiple inboxes, in the default Gmail view. To put it simple, multiple Gmail boxes is a move equivalent with delivering less clutter to the main Inbox, and no longer wasting time by filtering emails manually.

“When I heard about Gmail Labs, I started implementing a Labs feature in my 20% time that would help me (and you) spend less time monitoring important messages that may end up getting filtered away. Starting today, you can try Multiple Inboxes, a Labs experiment which makes it possible to have more than one 'inbox' in your default Gmail view,” revealed Octavian Costache, Gmail software engineer.

The new Multiple Inboxes feature enables users to streamline the way they manage, view and access content, by dividing emails based on lists. This will permit important content to be brought to the surface, rather than be buried under incoming emails. Gmail permits users to tweak the feature by using filtering options associated with labels, starred messages, drafts or any other parameters.

“After you turn on Multiple Inboxes from the Labs tab under Settings, you can configure what you want to see, as well as set the number of messages displayed and the positioning of your panels from the Multiple Inboxes section under Settings. However you choose to use it, let us know how we can improve the Multiple Inboxes experiment - all feedback is welcome,” Costache added.
